Shenandoah National Park is located 75 miles from Washington DC and is long and narrow with the Shenandoah river valley on the west side and the rolling hills on the Virginia Piedmont on the east.
The Skyline drive is the only public road through the park and runs 105 miles from North to South.
Animals such as black bears, deer coyote, beaver, fox, skunks, river otters and opossums can be seen in the park. We were lucky to spot a black bear.
